Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security – PABSS

The purpose of this program is to make protection and advocacy services available to disabled beneficiaries of the Social Security Act. To do this, the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration makes payments in each State to the protection and advocacy system established pursuant to part C of Title I of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (42 U.S.C. §15001).

This program can only serve beneficiaries of the Social Security Act who have disabilities.

The PABSS program can provide the following services:

1. Information and advice about obtaining vocational rehabilitation and employment services; and
2. Advocacy or other services that a disabled beneficiary may need to secure or regain gainful employment.
